Please share what you did Ken! We’re getting the same problem over here and can’t figure out a solution!
Hi
My CookBook can only see the files that are stored in the “Apps/My CookBook” directory on your dropbox account. Maybe it is your issue?
It looks like a useful app. but I cannot get it to download recipes from my dropbox account. I am running cookbook pro 4.4.1 on a Nexus Galaxy 7. I go to file_import/export and then change the drop down menu from SD Card to dropbox. It asks me to share and I accept. But then it cannot see any of my recipes in XML format which I created from the Recipe Writer web site. It looks like I can upload to my dropbox account, so I have access, but I cannot download to my device.
This was the main way I was going to get recipies from my cookbook to my Nexus. Am I missing something?
Another note on this error – when I try and import based on a URL I get from dropbox I get the error “The URL is not compatible with My Cookbook”
Nevermind. I think I see the problem.
Hey!
Great app! Our whole family is using it, our cooking reconnected all over the world! Only question is if we can import the file directly with our shared dropbox folder and if how? or will this be implemented in the future? Then it would just be really perfect!
thx for your good work!
Thanks! Currently the recipes must be stored on dropbox in the MyCookBook directory. Maybe we will change that one day
I just upgraded to 4.4, I am trying to sync recipes between two devices, I tried to manually upload recipes to dropbox and I get an error. Also your instructions are not clear for syncing recipes with new versions, can you update the instructions? (you still refer to 3.4 which has a sync button)
Hi,
Please send us your error by email (androidcookbook@gmail.com). The sync button was removed on the latest version. If you want to backup your recipes with a 3.4 version, you have to click on the backup button
Hi, I’m trying to move my cookbook recipes to my new samsung s3. I’ve exported to dropbox successfully and linked dropbox to my cookbook but when I try to import files, it says successful but there are no recipes in the folder.
If you can’t import a file, you can send it to us by email (androidcookbook@gmail.com). We will have a look if everything is fine inside
The sync is still not working. I use a website to add a recipe to my dropbox. Then try sync my dropbox with mycookbook and the recipes do not show up in mycookbook recipes.
Hi Bonnie,
Try on the 4.2 version. The sync button doesn’t exist anymore
Do you have to import the new recipes for each different device or will it update automatically? For instance if I share my cookbook amongst others and they add recipes and then backup to drop box will it add those recipes automatically or do I have to import manually?
You have to import the new recipes manually…
Having the same internet connection error. But everything else works
Hi,
Have you backup your recipes on dropbox before trying to click on sync? There may be an internet connection error if we click on Sync and if my cookbook can’t find on dropbox the backup file. We have to change our error message! Didn’t have the time yet… But the File Import/Export page will be improved in the next release !
Trying to open the .mcb file but it says ”can’t open: please download an app that can open this file type”
Hi,
If you want to import the recipes that are stored in the .mcb file , use our File Import/Export page in the My CookBook app
I am getting the same message and have done what you said and still no luck.
My files are not backing up to Dropbox. A box pops up showing 1% of 100 then disappears and then a msg saying complete, but nothing in my Dropbox folder.
Hi
Do you use the latest version of My Cookbook ? Some bugs were fixed in the version 4.1.2
